ORIOL MARTÍ CASAS. Doctor.


      Born in Barcelona on the 7th January, 1952.

      Since 1982, he is Professor of Social Medicine and Public Health at the Escola Universitària de Treball Social de L’ICESB. Universitat Ramón Llull of Barcelona.

      Former-professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Faculty of Medicine. Department of History of the Medical Sciences.

      Since 1979 he has been a member and co-worker in the counseling and teaching activities of the Centre for Sanitary Analysis and Planning (CAPS). Barcelona.

      Member of the IGIA Group of Barcelona.


      PUBLICATIONS.

      Work on the birth of medical bacteriology "El nacimiento de la bacteriología médica", awarded with the second prize of the Uriach Award of History of the Medicine, Barcelona, 1976.

      Book entitled "Conocer Claude Bernard y su obra". Published by DOPESA, Barcelona, 1980.

      Article entitled "Economía Política y Droga", with the contribution of Eduardo Rodríguez Farré and Alfonso Barceló. Published in the "Monthly Review", no. 12 (vol. 3) and no. 1 (vol. 4).

      Work entitled "En reivindicación de la menopausia". Winner of the Essay Award La Sal. (Under pseudonym). Barcelona.

      Article entitled "Educación para la Salud". Published in Cuadernos de Pedagogía, Barcelona, 1984.

      From 1983 to 1987 he has been a regular contributer in the section of Public Health of the magazine Punto y Hora de Euskal Herria.

      In the book entitled "Salut i Política", he published a chapter with the title "Entorn la natura (necessariamen). Política dels fets de la salut i de la malaltia". Col.lecció Propostes. Barcelona 1986.

      Article entitled "El treball Interdisciplinari, Teoria, Ideologia, Miratge?". Published in Revista de Treball Social (special issue). Barcelona.

      Work on the Health determinig socio-cultural factors, "Factores Socioculturales condicionales de la Salud", with the contribution of Mª Jesús Izquierdo, at request of the Intitute of the Woman, Ministry of Social Affairs. This work is embodied in one of the four volumes entitled: "La Mujer y la Salud en España. Informe Básico".

      Since 1992 he has been working on the "Introducció a la Medicina Social", which will consist of three volumes, at request of the Institut Catòlic d’Estudis Socials of L’ICESB. The first volume was published in June 1995.

      Article "Reflexiones acerca de Icaro y Dédalo". Revista Interdependencias, no. 2. (Journal specialized in drug addictions on a European scale). Barcelona 1993.

      At request of the Ministry of Health and Consumption he took part as an expert writing a chapter of the first Report on Social Inequality and Health, carried out in the Spanish State under the direction of the Doctors Joan Benach and Vicenç Navarro. 1995.

      Report "Pensar la Dependencia y no la Droga: Reflexiones a caballo de los mitos de Sísifo y el niño que quería vaciar el mar con una concha" in the book that holds the workshop: "Los Agentes Sociales ante el fenómeno de las Drogas" that took place in May 1994, at the Instituto Internacional de Sociología Junrídica, Oñati.Published in 1996.

      He has written a chapter of a text for the training on drug addictions for workers of the Primary Health Care, promoted by the National Drugs Plan and entitled "Homo sapiens=Homo dependens". In this text took part experts on drug addictions from all the European Union. 1996.

      The Publishing House Hiru hired him to write a handbook about drug addiction, directed very specifically to youngs and teenagers. It has benn published with the tittle Todo lo que quisiste saber sobre la dependencia a las drogas y nunca te atreviste a preguntar, Editorial HIRU S.L., Hondarribia (Gipuzkoa),1997
